'My name is Pier Felice Filippi. It was 1978, I was 23. I was kidnapped and kept by the Mafia for ransom. I was locked and tied up with an iron chain. I escaped. But I wanted to go all the way and have my kidnappers arrested. And I did it'. This is the first work directed by Alice Filippi and produced by an Italian independent production company Mowe Film. 1978-2018. In the kidnapping's 40th anniversary, a daughter turns her father's true story into a movie, focusing on his brave GETAWAY. The story follows two parallel points of view: Pier who knew that he had to devise an escape plan, and his father, by trying to reach an "agreement" with the Mafia while negotiating directly with the kidnappers. Unique documents such as the original recordings of all phone calls between the kidnappers and Pier's father allows one to appreciate the anguish of the victims. Filmed in cinemascope, GETAWAY is a documentary that depicts Italy, back in the '70s, when organized crime took advantage over the climate of political turmoil and went on a human kidnapping spree, whose extent, brutality and magnitude has never again been repeated. The accurate re-creation of Piers' kidnapping is achieved by true to life, re-enactments of events, which are accompanied by input from actual people involved. Besides the Judges, Investigating Officers, Policemen, Witnesses and Friends, Pier Felice bears witness to his own ordeal in this heart-breaking but thrilling documentary.
