FBI Intelligence assessment from 2006 is almost prophet in 2017. The FBI discovered the use of the term 'ghost skin'. That discovery has given truth to suspicion, we now have cases to support the theory that white supremacy has infiltrated our law enforcement. Officer involved shootings have become common in news headlines, there has been a vital element omitted that has not yet been explored. On Twitter feeds & FB postings, the untold story has been that of the actual human lives that have been extinguished, and the toll these murders have taken on their loved ones. Ghost Skin, director Carolyn Battle Cochrane follows the story of Cache Heidel, fiancé of Jonathan Ferrell, an innocent black man murdered on September 14, 2013 by police officers in NC. The film allows Ms. Heidel the opportunity to reflect on her personal loss and also offer, to the implicit racial bias that led to Jon's murder, solutions that may help deter future miscarriages of justice. Ghost Skin, additionally, juxtaposes interviews between middle class black college educated men & honor role boys, offering their personal experiences. Eleven year old Zaid asks; "Why aren't the good cops stopping the bad cops?" This film is seeking to explore this narrative with police officers and use this project as a training tool to invoke insight into the lives of people of color that have been misrepresented in the media, those ninety-six percent of African Americans who are law abiding citizens.
