In 'Cenere' (Ash) there are three micro stories: one about love between brothers, another about friendship and the last about abandonment. How is possible to tie these stories? Easy, with a macro story about death. After A. dies due to an illness, his old friends, B. and C., are called by the estate executor to communicate them the last wish of the deceased: spread his ashes into the Pacific Ocean. They hadn't seen each other for years, sometimes life is complicated, but thanks to this event they will come together again, for the last time, in order to fulfill their role as friends. Both have good reasons to refuse, but the friendship that binds them could still be there, intact, hidden under a thick layer of ash. The two friend will have to do everything to satisfy the last wish. B. is married to D., sister of the deceased friend. She hide a turbid secret about her brother and this event will bring back to light sensations and experiences buried in the dense labyrinth of the mind. Once the last wish is met life will return with its weight, moving away the two old friend in a (perhaps) definitive way.
