Under a totalitarian-socialist regime, a 26-year armed conflict in Sri Lanka forced numerous Eelam Tamils to seek refuge in many foreign nations - particularly in Canada. Among them is Rathika Sitsabaiesan, a former Canadian Member of Parliament who fled the armed conflict in Sri Lanka (South Asia) with her Tamil family at just 5 years old. The violent conflict, nonstop anguish and horrors of genocide -- drove Rathika's passion for peace through advocacy. In 2013 and 2019, she revisited her traumatic past and went back to her home country. Her visit to the mother land of Sri Lanka (South Asia) rekindled her own tragic memories as she was surveilled by the same unethical government responsible for the widespread suffering.
