Clownfish (2010)

None | Taiwan | Mandarin | 83 min
Directed by: Charlie Chu
2.5

A fish stuck in a fish pond does not have the luxury of swimming around freely. They are used to a mindless system of food being fed to them waiting to be weighed by the humans to see how much their worth - this is the portrayal of Wu Kuo-Yu. He is not the most noble of fish nor is he among the beautiful. He is only among the cheapest of fish only being able to act as an unworthy comedian clown. As much as Wu Kuo-Yu hates clowns little does he know that becoming one will be his destiny. As destiny would have it Wu Kuo-Yu stumbles upon a "silent comedian clown theatrical performance" and hears applause so great it overthrew his original thoughts of all clowns being losers. The leader of the comedian clowns took one look at Wu Kuo-Yu and knew he wanted to change his fate and invited him to join the troupe. Wu Kuo-Yu who is adamant about succeeding and finding happiness wonders if it is at all possible that a guy like him could be a comedian clown star? After Wu Kuo-Yu enters an exotic aquatic world looking at clown fish he sees the most beautiful girl (Hsueh-Jou) he has ever seen, almost as if he just witnessed a beautiful mermaid in a marine world. From that moment he knew he wanted to be a part of her heart and could never stop thinking about her.
