Nèna (2021)

A first generation migrant from the Middle East to Australia, Nena lives alone with her mother, Kawthar, in suburban Melbourne. Nena is heavily focused on solidifying her Artistic endeavors at the expense of her mother's wishes to lead a more traditional route in life, find a partner, and settle down. This is driven out of the fear of not wanting her daughter to lead the same lonely life as she is. However, as Nena is sponsored for an exhibition by her college, it brings about a series of events that deeply challenge their relationship, the dogmatic values held by Kawthar and perhaps changing things between them forever.
