I Was A Soldier (2024)

Homeless Falkland War veteran Dave Simms has lost everything to PTSD: his family, home, and dignity. While living on Portsmouth's streets with his only companion, Sally the Dog, Dave struggles to survive. His daily routine of begging for loose change takes a dire turn when Sally is injured and diagnosed with a life-threatening tumour that requires costly surgery. Desperate to save Sally, Dave's journey leads him to Malcky's burger van, where he finds an unexpected ally. Discovering that they are both veterans, Dave and Malcky form a bond of friendship and camaraderie. Together, they fight against a broken system, raise funds for Sally's surgery, and help Dave confront his PTSD. Through community spirit and resilience, Dave begins to reclaim his life.
