The basis of the documentary is a historical document and at the same time a record of his private life - Dawid Sierakowiak's diary read by Maciej Stuhr. The preserved notes begin the narrative at the threshold of World War II and cover times of violence, hatred, hunger and suffering. They are also a penetrating look at the political upheaval in Europe and a barometer of the mood among Jews. However, the largest part of the material shows the terrifying but also surprising everyday life of the Lódz ghetto.
