Seré is an autobiographical film, representing Ricardo's childhood. He was raised in Brazil in a small village named Conceicao de Ipanema by his beloved grandmother. Who at a very early age lost her husband and afterward dedicated her life to serving Jesus and proclaiming his teachings. Being all the time with his grandmother he spent quite a lot of his childhood going to the church even against his will. Ricardo couldn't fight against it, principally because of the fear he felt towards God. Committing a sin threatened him. To go against his grandmother's word and not dedicating his time to God made him feel guilty. As a small boy, he didn't see nor thought about the impact that he was having being raised under the pressure of the church. Therefore, Ricardo grew up with ideas which never had a real response inside him. With time he started to understand that he didn't agree with most of his granny's teachings, but also realized that he had a choice. After all, it was his life, his decisions, his consequences. Seré tells the story of a boy who has a battle inside him, between what he was taught all his life and what he actually starts to feel. The objective of this short is to show the ridiculous gender inequality from the eyes of an innocent child. Love wins all the stereotypes and encourages even the young ones to fight for what they truly believe in.
