In 1980 one of eight so-called "dropouts" from the RAF, which was finally negotiated with the Ministry of State Security in the GDR, German Democratic Republic, were housed there and equipped with a new identity. Like all other GDR drop-outs accused in the GDR, she was arrested after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990, but was released prematurely in 1995 and was able to build up a new existence in the Federal Republic of Germany. Her career has sometimes been described as a prime example of reintegration into society.
