Diplomacy... Is it a theatre stage?! Is there a point where you may discern diplomacy from the theatre. Feature Film "An Expats' Tale", settled in a diplomatic environment, build up on human relations where different cultures cope with harsh comic clashes which sometimes gets to discrimination, where small issues easily may become big dramas depending on the locals' or foreigners' different angles. This movie tells the story of Roshi, the small boy who during communism, while playing, his kite got stuck on a tree inside the foreign Embassy and he could never recover it... maybe so that when he would grow up, one day he could turn out to be one of their employees, work with the foreigners... and somehow, in a way following up his kite dream. But with an inherent problem: looking from far away and being inside it, is not the same thing, especially in different times. As many other Albanians, brought up in a dictatorship country, he saw foreign representations as the islands of freedom in Albania on that time, and even now! It is the professional and love story of the main charcater, making great choices in life when there is no guarantee of the outcome. And it is also the story of standing by your principles regardless of the repercussions. A story of belief and love, of intrigue and of betrayal, of hope and of disillusion. Confronting, thought provoking, heart breaking, a refine sense of humour, uplifting and sad, funny and moving.
