Half Flame, Half Brine (1989)

Zhang and Fatty are two idle young men in Beijing, they pose as policemen and extort rich business to make money. They also chat up young girls for fun in spare time. Zhang meets a college girl Wu who is learning foreign language and the total different two make feeling happen. Wu is addicted to Zhang's cynicism, but Zhang just wants to play for fun. Wu feels hurt, abandons herself to vice and loses her life finally. Zhang gets caught and jailed in an operation. Zhang is released years later, meets a new college girl Hu and realizes the irreparable hurts that he made to Wu.
