In Vancouver, British Columbia, record store owner, radio-show host, and DJ David Love Jones' devotion to documenting the life and career of one of his idols, Vancouver soul singer Jayson Hoover. Exploring the fine line between enthusiasm and fixation, the effects of both polite and overt racism, and the lengths artists will go to in the pursuit of fame and dream sequences. Examining not only the determination and passion that drives artists to create but the sacrifice and willpower necessary for success; while simultaneously focusing on David's incredible resolve, entrepreneurial spirit, and quirky enthusiasm, the film delves into Jayson's life, incredible music, and personal connection to both the Vancouver soul scene and the broader social issues of injustice and racism from the 60s to present.
