The Education of Sonny Carson (1974)

Sonny and his girlfriend lie in bed after sex. The sheets are covering their whole bodies and nothing beyond that is seen.

Some bloody violence.

13-year-old Sonny undergoes a gang initiation where he runs in-between gang members while being hit with belts, clubs, pipes and chains. He collapses on the floor, his head covered in blood.

A gang fight ends with a young man being stabbed in the back. He falls dead on the ground, eyes wide open.

Strong language throughout. The film opens with a group of children cursing while stealing from a convenience store.

Many uses of "f*ck", "n*gga", "sh*t", etc. throughout.

Characters smoke and drink at different times in the film.

The tone of the film is bleak and depressing. It deals with how gang violence and inner city poverty can destroy the potential of individuals.

The funeral of one of the gang members is very sad and intense.

A character is shown handcuffed to a pipe and is beaten badly by a police officer.
