Get on Your Mark (1973)

Forever indebted to the Agricultural Bank of Greece after receiving improvident loans, the remaining farmers of a sleepy Peloponnesian town find themselves caught in a downward spiral. Under those circumstances--while hopelessly trying to smother the dominant feelings of depression, loneliness, and the invincible torpor in a land where its population is rapidly ageing--the city's tailor and former sprinter, Andreas, struggles to find love and a reason to stay in this God-forsaken place. The quasi-annual road race seems to be the only way out. Can Andreas prove he is still the man he used to be?
