On the eve of his wedding, a young doctor, Sergei, is going to visit his mother in the provinces and dissuades the bride from going with him. His mother works in the reserve, Varya lives here, Sergei's ex-girlfriend, who is expecting a child from him. But he has no remorse. Contrary to the ban, Sergei hunts in the reserve and kills roe deer. Viewing photos of his father, whom he did not find alive, Sergey prefers cooking barbecue from roe deer. He is not going to tell the truth about his engagement to Varya.
