Several scenes of violent beatings committed by both warders and inmates alike.
An inmate uses a makeshift kosh (a sock and snooker balls) against another inmate. The same fallen inmate is also kicked in the groin several times.
An inmate dunks another inmate in a sink full of water, cutting his head in the process. He is then thrown against a wall and punched several times in the ribs followed by multiple kicks to the groin.
While not as graphically violent as many other prison dramas, 'Scum' is a uniquely harrowing film in its depictions of brutality. There is nothing stylized or artsy to distract from the realism, and the episodes of violence feel especially raw and savage.
