The film is about events related to Poland regaining independence after years of partitions - from the creation of Legions in Krakow by Jozef Pilsudski in 1914, to discussions and decisions of the Peace Conference in Versailles. The first part presents the events in Poland and abroad since 1914 - the creation of Polish troops in Krakow until 1917 - when the army refused to vow, and Pilsudski is arrested by the Germans. The second part presents the events since 1917 through the Bolshevik revolution, the end of the war and an attempt to form a Polish government, a peace conference in Versailles or the Greater Poland Uprising.
