The Last Emperor (1987)

Winner of nine oscars prizes, this biographical movie directed by Bernardo Bertolucci is about the life of Pu Yi, China´s last emperor. He ascendes the throne as a child in 1908 and ruled in the Forbidden city, but as China is in the throes of decadence the republican forces start the revolution to abolish the imperial court. With and incredible cast and cinematography, passion but also madness get together to tell this complex and tumultuos historical period.
