Bad Dreams (1988)

A man and woman go into a utility room to have sex. She ends up being cut up by a large turbine.

A building with many characters (including children) inside explodes and is engulfed in large flames. Characters are shown carrying filled body bags. A character is shown receiving medical attention with hypodermic needles and stitching needles unconscious with blood and dirt on their face. Multiple self-inflicted scars are briefly shown on a characters abdomen. A character is shown with a burned and bloody face in close up shots. People are shown being burned alive and screaming in pain in an extended and graphic scene. In the same scene babies are heard crying but not shown being burned. A character is hurdled across a room by a large explosion. A characters head is held underwater by another character and drowned. A character is hurled through a window from a building and falls a distance and killed. The impact is briefly shown as well as a large blood splat. The same character is briefly shown in a pool of blood afterwards. The gory aftermath of characters being caught in a turbine fan is shown. A character follows another character by following the blood smears and drops from their wounds. A character is shown killing himself with surgical scalpels. Skin penetration and blood is shown. A character is shown committing suicide by drinking poison. A character is shown murdering another by running his car into the victim entrapped between the car and a wall repeatedly; Blood is shown splashing on the windshield. A character jumps from a building in an attempt to kill them self but fails. Another character is pushed from a building and killed.

Infrequent strong language like "fuck", and "shit", among other minor profanities.

Characters at a psych ward are given unspecified medications. Some characters are shown smoking cigarettes. Two characters drink alcohol. A character is shown in a frenzied and paranoid state after missing his medications. A character is shown taking a non-prescribed pill in a stressed state. Major plot point centers on drugs being misused to induce mental states.

Themes of religious cults, mass suicide and abuse of authority are prevalent in addition to all the graphic violence in the film. Loud noise accompanies a sudden appearance of an antagonist character a couple of times. Ghostly manifestations appear mutilated and burned.
