The body of a child, who is a character in the story, is seen lying on a dining table.
The bodies of young children, a boy and a girl, are seen hanged by the neck with signs around their neck saying abusive things about them. They are Jewish and it is clear that the Nazis have murdered them.
There are other scenes where dead bodies are shown. At times the characters are simply walking past, as though this is so commonplace that they do not even react.
Briefly, photographs of concentration camp victims are shown, with dead, emaciated bodies piled on top of each other.
There are a number of scenes in which it appears the main character is about to be exposed as a Jew and murdered by the Nazis. There is also a scene where the Allied liberators accuse the main character of not being Jewish, and invite a Jewish concentration camp victim to kill him in revenge. The gun is held to the boy's head.
