The Marilyn Diaries (1990)

Investigative reporter Jim Reed discovers an erotic diary and, captivated by its passionate stories, shows it to his boss, the editor of Voyeur Magazine. Eager to publish the steamy work, he teams with Jane, the magazine's top photographer, and the two set out after the mysterious "Marilyn" to secure her permission. Former lovers Jim and Jane, who had a falling out when Jane's love for Jim became too intense, edge ever closer to their objective upon meeting various people acquainted with Marilyn: a famous actor, an enterprising artist, and a high-ranking military colonel, each a story in itself. Finally meeting Marilyn, they learn that she could never truly love anyone until she was able to be true to her own emotions. Jane realizes that this is the solution to her confusion, and makes amends with the one man she never really wanted to be without.
