The House of the Spirits (1993)

The film covers three generations of a well-off chilean family, the Trueba's, while shifting events occur in the country's political and social context. With the focus centered on a violent patriarch, the story spans several decades, reaching the period of the dictatorship that overthrows the government of Salvador Allende in 1973. Based on the novel by writer Isabel Allende, this historical-romantic melodrama features an excellent cast and a thrilling story.
