M. Butterfly (1993)

There are several scenes of passionate kissing, a brief, clothed scene depicting anal intercourse, as well as a clothed scene suggesting that oral intercourse is about to take place. There are two scenes in which characters appear completely nude.

There is a scene in which a character, surreptitiously, uses a piece of glass to cut his carotid artery, with profuse bleeding visible when the act is discovered. There are two scenes of street rioting, one of which involves rock-throwing and crowd violence, but none of which is detailed enough, onscreen, to be gory.

There are some swears but it's very infrequent. 1 use each of fuck, shit, goddamn, damn and ass.

There is much, casual, cigarette-smoking, done by several characters; alcohol is consumed, and there are a few scenes of the main character in a state of serious intoxication. Drugs do not figure in this film at all.

The scenes mentioned sub verbo "Violence & Gore" might rise to the level of "frightening/intense" for some; however, there are no scenes which seem calculated specifically to disgust or terrorize.
