Tivoli in the 1840s. The dear, old garden forms the setting for this pleasure play by George Schnéevoigt, who lets the wealthy girl Amelie be the chosen one for the violinist Jens from Lumbye's famous orchestra. However, the fallen Baron von Listow is also after Amelie - and not just for her female charms. However, love and finances fall into place in the end, and everyone can hum along to the 'Champagne Gallop'. The historical image of Tivoli is nostalgically tied together by the quiet romance, to a film worth watching from the late 30s.
