Storyline:  Charlie, a poor immigrant traveling to America, helps a young woman named Edna and her ailing mother after they are robbed during the voyage. Misunderstood as a thief, he barely clears his name. Later, in New York, broke and hungry, he finds Edna again in a restaurant, where fate and misfortune reunite them in a bittersweet struggle for survival.
