Ernst ist das Leben (1916)

Fany, the daughter of a florist, is engaged to Fritz, an engineer. Then, Fany gets discovered as a dancer and trains as a ballerina. One night during a performance, there is a fire, and Fany is saved by Holger, a sculptor, who she ends up marrying instead. Holger turns out to be unfaithful to Fany, yet she still tries to save her marriage, even when she catches him with another woman. In the end, Holger leaves her, and Fany dies of a broken heart.
