Within Our Gates (1920)

A young African-American woman, Sylvia, returns to her Southern roots after a heartbreak up North. Amidst the racial tension and deep-seated prejudice, she becomes entangled in a desperate fight to save a rural school for black children from closure. Her journey brings her face to face with the ghosts of her past and forces her to confront the true cost of survival in a society built on inequality.
