The Freshman (1925)

Harold Lamb, a wide-eyed and naive young man, arrives at Tate University with dreams of becoming the most popular student on campus. However, his attempts to fit in make him the target of cruel pranks by the upperclassmen, who see him as an easy mark. Despite constant ridicule, Harold remains blissfully unaware, convinced he's on the path to popularity as he joins the college football team.
