Old and New (1929)

In pre-revolutionary Russia, Martha's father passes away, and her inheritance consists of only a cow and a small, unmanageable piece of land. Desperate for assistance, she approaches a wealthy kulak, only to be coldly dismissed. Determined to find a better way, Martha ignites a revolutionary spirit within herself and rallies four other struggling farmers to form their own kolkhoz.
