The Virgin Wife (1926)

Wishing to make contact with his deceased first wife, wealthy Henry Lattimer permits the frequent visits of bogus medium Earl Van Dorn; Henry's son, Tom, loves Lattimer's secretary, Mary Jordan; and Mrs. Lattimer hopes to achieve a place in society through the marriage of Tom and her friend, Virginia Jamieson. Immediately following a secret wedding of Mary and Tom, Mary misunderstands Virginia's advances toward Tom and angrily leaves the house; and Tom believes from evidence he finds that Mary has perished in a pool of quicksand. While Tom is under increasing pressure to marry Virginia, Mary becomes the unconscious dupe of Van Dorn and a Dr. Everett Webb. Action comes fast and furious when Webb steals Lattimer's jewels, Tom chases Van Dorn, and Mary is incriminated. But the truth is revealed, and Mary is reunited with Tom.
