Slapstick.
When Stan and Ollie try to move the boxed piano aside to let a nurse with a baby carriage pass, they lose control and chase the sliding box down the steps. By the time they recover it, the nurse is laughing at their misfortune and even says, "of all the dumb things." In response, Stan kicks her in the behind. She punches him in the face, making Ollie burst out laughing. The nurse breaks a glass bottle over his head.
A policeman kicks Ollie in the rear twice, then bops Stan on the head with his stick and pokes him in the stomach with it.
Ollie is run over by a boxed piano.
An angry man demands Stan and Ollie move the piano so he can walk by. He grows more and more furious, leading to shouting and pushing. Stan slaps his hat off, causing it to bounce down to the street where it is flattened by a truck.
Ollie falls into a fountain.
Stan accidentally bumps Ollie with a ladder.
Ollie falls off the ladder and through the front door of the house.
As Stan tries to push the piano out the bedroom door, he accidentally slams it shut, right in Ollie's face.
Both Stan and Ollie fall out a second story window and land in a fountain. The piano falls on top of them.
Ollie steps on a nail that is protruding from a loose board. No visible damage to his foot.
When Schwarzenhoffen gets home, he rails at Stan and Ollie for the damage done to his house. He gets an ax and destroys the piano. His wife comes in at that moment and tearfully admits the piano was a birthday present. Schwarzenhoffen apologies to Stan and Ollie, but when they give him a pen to sign the paper, it bursts ink into his face.
