I Am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang (1932)

After returning from World War I, James Allen dreams of a career in construction. However, the harsh economic realities force him into poverty. He then is wrongfully implicated in a robbery and sentenced to a brutal chain gang. Enduring cruel conditions, he eventually escapes, finding success and a new life in Chicago. Despite his achievements, Allen’s past haunts him, threatening to pull him back into the oppressive chain gang system.
