Tôkyô kôshinkyoku (1929)

Amid the nostalgic backdrop of 1920s Tokyo, a young orphan named Michiyo toils away in a factory, living under the harsh guardianship of her laborer uncle and his wife. Their fortunes take a turn for the worst when her uncle loses his job, leading them to the desperate decision of selling Michiyo into the world of geishas. Unbeknownst to her, a connection to her past emerges, chaining her fate with two wealthy suitors.
