The Plough and the Stars (1936)

Nora Clitheroe runs a boarding house in Dublin during the political unrest of revolutionary Ireland. Her life is upended when she learns that her husband, Jack, has joined the Irish Citizen Army, a rebel militia fighting to free Ireland from British rule. Fearing for his safety, Nora pleads with Jack to stay away from the uprising. Despite his reassurances, Jack rises to a leadership role, pushing their marriage to its breaking point.
