Classic Laurel and Hardy slapstick cartoony violence.
In the beginning, Ollie has gout and is moaning in pain.
Stan tries to carry Ollie on his back, only his suspender gets caught, Stan loses his balance and they both fall into a bath tub. Ollie hits Stan on the head with a brush.
When chopping wood, Stan accidentally chops through the tip of Ollie's shoe. He is unharmed.
When Stan keeps annoying Ollie as he's humming, he hits him on the head.
Stan picks up a hatchet and says he's going to look for a horse, after Mrs. Hall says the old phrase, "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse's neck." Ollie stops him, and in the process, Stan sits on a burning stove.
Charlie slaps his wife's hat off and orders her to the car. Charlie then punches Ollie a few times and sticks Stan's head into the bucket of water.
Stan sticks a plunger to Charlie's head.
Charlie unhitches the trailer and causes Stan and Ollie to fall out. They cover him with glue and feathers. Charlie pours kerosene on the back of Ollie's trousers, asks Stan for a match which he provides, and then lights Ollie's pants on fire. He jumps into the well to put out the fire...thinking it's full of water, but the alcohol and fire blast Ollie out of the well, causing him to fall head-first into the ground, buried up to his waist.
All played for laughs.
