Young and Innocent (1937)

Robert Tisdall, a struggling screenwriter, stumbles upon the body of famous actress Christine Clay on a British beach. He runs to get help, but his actions are mistaken for fleeing the scene. With incriminating evidence, including her being strangled with a raincoat belt and her will leaving him money, Tisdall is charged with murder. Escaping custody, he finds an unlikely ally in Erica, the Chief's daughter. Together, they seek the real killer
