Storyline:  Experimental and silent short film, written, directed and starring Maya Deren. A dreamlike narrative in which a woman wakes up on a beach while the waves go back and forth in reverse, entering a strange journey where she meets other people and other versions of herself, in the rigorous search for a chess piece. In Maya's own words, a precursor of avant-garde American cinema, “the film is about the struggle to maintain one's personal identity”.
