After years of dedication and hard work in the unexplored field of medical research, the esteemed physician, Dr Thomas Heyt, finally receives a long-awaited letter from the University of Munich. In the meantime, much to her delight, his lively young wife, Hanna, can't wait to announce the excellent news: next fall, the renowned professor will be the institute's new director. From now on, a promising career and a bright future await; however, when the beloved Hanna is diagnosed with the incurable and disabling disease of multiple sclerosis, everything will start coming apart. More and more--as the good doctor's beautiful wife succumbs to her cruel and tragic fate--Hanna's pleas for help and a swift "release" before she is reduced to a mere fragment of her once-vital self become painfully frequent. Now, Dr Thomas faces the most agonising dilemma in his entire career; nevertheless, can man play God?
