Storyline:  In 1830, on the island of Calvados, Manuela Alva dreams of love with the feared pirate Macoco, while her guardians push her toward marriage with the arrogant mayor Don Pedro. A circus actor, Serafin, falls for her and, after discovering her secret desire, impersonates Macoco to win her. His disguise enchants Manuela but also leads authorities to mistake him for the real pirate, putting his life in peril.
