Brer Fox and Brer Bear use the volatile racist slur (*the word itself originates in the original Uncle Remus tale or African folklore though) "tar baby" (usually used to refer to a black child) repeatedly in one story. They go as far as creating a physical "tar baby" which entraps Brer Rabbit, literally transforming him into the "tar baby."

Some characters smoke pipes.
