It is 1941 and World War II is in full swing. The Japanese military is enlisting all the men in the land. A newlywed lawyer, whose marriage is a mere couple of months' long, is informed by letter that he has been drafted and has to report for war. Not only is the man a newlywed who does not want to join the war effort, but he also has a weak constitution and is anti-war. His wife implores the general in charge to exclude him from the draft, but instead the officer reports the man to the government as someone with dangerous ideas. Without an alternative, the man is enlisted and sent to war. The tragedy segues into a tale of betrayal and revenge.
