Stella (1955)

More than anything, Stella, a fiercely proud and unapologetically independent Rebetiko diva, cherishes her freedom. And no one can take that away from her. After all, Stella has always been straight with her admirers; she may like them, but she will never marry. But love works in mysterious ways. And then, a fateful encounter with local heartthrob Miltos, an explosive and egotistic football player having eyes only for Stella, changes everything. Now trapped in an all-consuming whirlwind romance, the flamboyant singer must sacrifice her ideals for a man. However, no one has ever robbed Stella of her precious autonomy. Yet Miltos, the inadvertent catalyst in an already volatile relationship, demands total surrender. Undoubtedly, love is grand but can be dangerous. As everything points to a tragic ending, only a paradoxical act of carnivorous devotion can provide catharsis. And in the aftermath of passion, there can be no winners.
