West Side Story (1961)

The film, based on a Broadway musical that was itself inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, takes place in a marginal area of New York where two gangs are at war with each other. On one side the "Sharks", immigrants from Puerto Rico, and on the other side the "Jets", white people of European descent; at the same time, a romance between two members of each gang makes things more complicated. Considered one of the best musicals in the history of cinema, it has impeccable choreography and great performances.
