La Jetée (1962)

In post-WWIII Paris, survivors live underground as scientists experiment with time travel to save humanity. A prisoner, haunted by a childhood memory of a woman at Orly Airport, goes back in time to find her. But his captors are closing in, with a plan to execute him.
