Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors (1965)

The feud between two families does not stop the forbidden romance of Ivan and Marichka, who have always dreamt of a future together. When an unexpected tragedy brings Ivan to face difficulties, he is forced to revisit his memories and struggle to overcome his grief. Based on a 19th century folk tale, this film portrays the life and culture of the Ukrainian Hutsuls who lived in the Carpathian Mountains, while following the protagonist's intense emotional journey.
