Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors (1965)

Directed by the acclaimed Sergei Parajanov, the film portrays the life and culture of Ukrainian Hutsuls in the Carpathian Mountains. The feud between two families does not stop the forbidden romance between Ivan and Marichka, who since childhood dream of a future together. An unexpected tragedy leads Ivan to revisit his memories and struggle to overcome his grief.
