Thanasis, the Politician (1954)

Reluctantly, the kind, hard-working, and self-made green-grocer, Meletis Kaplanis, agrees to marry off Mary, his refined and Switzerland-educated sister, to the aspiring politician, Thanassakis Govotsos. However, after three failed campaigns in a row, Meletis is in for an unpleasant surprise when he finds out that his ambitious future-brother-in-law has eaten up Mary's dowry to run for office. Now, Thanassakis is between a rock and a hard place, and for the first time in his life, he will have to work for a living. Can Thanassakis see the error of his ways?
