Red Cliff (1949)

Leading a carefree life in picturesque 1883 Zakynthos, or Fior di Levante, the aristocratic belle of noble descent, Fotini Sandri, sees her world turn upside down with the arrival of her elegant first cousin, Aggelos Marinis. Passionately in love with her, Marinis is shocked to discover that, even though innocent Fotini is attracted to him, she refuses to reciprocate his feelings for her. As a result, devastated Aggelos returns to Athens empty-handed. However, unexpectedly good news inspires new hope, and love-smitten Fotini starts making plans for the future, only to find out that Aggelos has moved on with his life, married to another woman. Is this the end of an ardent youthful romance?
