Our Love Began on Cyprus (1960)

Before becoming an independent republic on 16 August 1960, the island of Cyprus was under the dominion of the British Empire. En route to his hometown, Alkis Galanis, the successful owner of a soft-drink factory, has a chance encounter with Martha, the beautiful wife to Major Gordon. Against the backdrop of political and social unrest in Nicosia, and constant bombing raids by the local resistance movement, little by little, Alkis and Martha start to become inseparable. But, undercover agents are scattered everywhere, and, more and more, after decades of British control, freedom is at hand.
