In the Greek province of the 19th century, Stathis Vlachopangagos is a tough and powerful local lord. The decision to divert the waters of a fountain, depriving other villagers from the water necessary for their crops, triggering a bloody conflict. The love of Rinios, daughter of Vlachopangagos, with Dimos Palasis, from the rival village, infuriates him.
